WEC 45 Draws $102,700 Gate

WEC 45 “Cerrone vs. Ratcliff” drew a live gate of $102,700.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission released the event details, reporting 1,741 total attendees with 926 tickets sold, and 815 complimentary tickets. A total of 450 tickets went unsold.

WEC 45 took place at The Pearl in Las Vegas on December 19th and was headlined by a lightweight matchup between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Ed “9mm” Ratcliff.

WEC 45 Fighter Bonuses

The WEC handed out their traditional “Fight of the Night,” Knockout of the Night,” and “Submission of the Night” awards for WEC 45 to the tune of $10,000 each.

Headliners Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Ed “9mm” Ratcliff each earned an extra $10k and ”Fight of the Night” honors for their battle at WEC 45. Scott Jorgensen and Takeya Mizugaki were awarded “Fight of the Night” as well, taking home $5,000 each.

“Knockout of the Night” went to Anthony Njokuani, who delivered a devastating high-kick to the head of Chris Horodecki followed by some ground and pound to finish him off in the first round.

WEC newcomer Brad Picket picked up “Submission of the Night,” finishing opponent Kyle Dietz by peruvian necktie in the second round.

Donald Cerrone vs. Ed Ratcliff Headlines WEC 45

The WEC has announced that Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will be taking on Ed Ratcliff for the main event at WEC 45.

The event will take place at The Pearl at the Palms in Las Vegas on Saturday, December 19th.

Cerrone is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Ben Henderson in a battle considered for “Fight of the Year.”

Ratcliff is 3-1 in the WEC, with victories over Johnny Sampaio, Alex Karalexis, and Phil Cardella.

Also on tap is another lightweight battle between the recently signed Chris Horodecki and Anthony Njokuani.

“Four of our top lightweights are going to be competing on Dec. 19, each with his sights set on securing a coveted shot at the world title,” WEC GM Reed Harris said. “Cerrone vs. Ratcliff has the potential to be an explosive standup war. We can expect much of the same from Njokuani and Horodecki as well. This is the perfect holiday gift for fans.”

Tickets for the event go on sale tomorrow October 31st at 12pm PST.

The event will be broadcast live on Versus at 10pm EST.
