Newly-crowned interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin took home “Knockout of the Night,” dropping Frank Mir in the first round with a series of uppercuts before finishing him with some ground ‘n pound.

New Jersey’s Kurt Pellegrino pulled out a win in front of his hometown fans, submitting Fabricio Camoes via rear naked choke, grabbing “Submission of the Night” for his efforts.

In an undercard battle shown at the end of the pay-per-view telecast, Jared Hamman and Rodney Wallace traded blows for three rounds, with each walking away with “Fight of the Night” honors.

According to Fighters Only, the routine brain scan taken by Alves showed irregularities which caused the New Jersey State Athletic Commission to pull Alves out of his fight.

Sherdog.com is reporting that Alves’ American Top Team teammate Ben Saunders will step-in to face Fitch.  Saunders was scheduled to face Jake Ellenberger on the night’s main card. 

A lightweight matchup between New Jersey-native Kurt Pellegrino and Fabricio Camoes has been updgraded to the pay-per-view portion of the card.

Among several planned events, the viewing party will be presented in high-definition on Radio City Music Hall’s 70′x35′ screen with special guests Chuck Liddell and Matt Serra making appearances.

Airing tomorrow, March 10 at 10pm ET on Spike, the series gets up-close-and-personal with the two fighters as they train for their showdown on March 27th.

“I know that I can give GSP hell when the time comes,” Hardy states. “It’s so sweet stepping out into the Octagon on the other side saying, ‘I told you so.’ All these GSP fans that are betting the house on him, when they wake up Sunday morning…they aren’t going to be too impressed with themselves.”

St. Pierre, ever-confident, counters: “I am the most confident guy I’ve ever been in my life, I got the knowledge, the experience of championship fights. I’ve got everything on my side. One round I can strike with him and try to knock him out. The other one I can try to put him down and submit him. He doesn’t know what I can do to him. I can do it all.”

UFC Primetime will be aired weekly in three segments leading up to UFC 111 “St. Pierre vs. Hardy.”

UFC 111 will air live on pay-per-view Saturday, March 27 from the Prudential Center, in Newark, NJ at 10:00 PM ET.

The Spike telecast will run for one-hour, leading up to the 10pm ET pay-per-view portion of UFC 111 which takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

The first bout scheduled to air is a welterweight matchup between Matt Brown, from Season 7 of The Ultimate Fighter, vs. New Jersey-native Ricardo “Big Dog” Almeida.

Brown has amassed a 4-1 record in the UFC with all wins coming via TKO or submission. He has won his last three bouts, most recently defeating TUF 9 winner James Wilks at UFC 105. His opponent, Almeida, boasts a professional record of 11-3, including a victory over Kendall Grove in his last outing at UFC 101.

In addition to Brown vs. Almeida, Ultimate Fighter Season 5 winner Nate Diaz will take on Rory Markham. Diaz will be making his debut at 170lbs after compiling a 6-3 record in the UFC’s lightweight division.

Other bouts from the undercard may be broadcast, depending on the length of the first two fights.

UFC 111 takes place on March 27th and features a headline matchup between Georges St. Pierre and Dan Hardy for the UFC welterweight championship.

Starting with UFC 111, UFC announcers Troy Santiago and Victor Davila will provide commentary for the event entirely in Spanish, from the ring interviews to the end credits. As well, all graphics and pre-produced segments will appear in Spanish.

“For our fans who want to watch and listen to our UFC events in Spanish, we are now creating a show just for them, in their language, so they can enjoy the whole UFC experience from start to finish,” said UFC president Dana White.
