Welterweight contender Josh Koscheck came away with both “Submission of the Night,” and “Fight of the Night” honors along with his opponent Anthony Johnson.

After taking a knee to the head while on the ground, which cost Johnson a point, Koscheck came back to submit Johnson in round two with a rear naked choke.

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira made a splash in his UFC debut, knocking out Luiz Cane in the first round. He was awarded “Knockout of the Night” for his effort.

“Karo Parisyan has fucked over the UFC, the fans and his opponent again!!! He will not be fighting saturday or ever again in the UFC!!,” White posted. “Pulled out of the fight the day before weigh ins again with a laundry list of excuses!!! Let the press ask karo why! Let him explain.”

The exact reason behind Parisyan’s absence is unknown at this time. However, White went on to post that Hazelett will be paid his full purse to show and win.

Parisyan previously pulled out of a fight before the weigh-ins when he was supposed to face Yoshiyuki Yoshida at UFC 88. It was reported that a back injury forced him out of the fight.

Earlier this year, Parisyan was suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for testing positive for several banned substances–painkillers oxymorphone, hydrocodone, and hydromorphone–following his fight with Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 94. Parisyan won the fight by split decision, but it was later ruled a no-contest following Parisyan’s positive test result.

Parisyan’s career in the UFC dates back to 2003, when he debuted at UFC 44. He has gone 8-3 with 1 no-contest in his twelve fights in the Octagon.

It will be Ortiz’ first fight in over a year and his first since having surgery on his back.  Speaking to the L.A. Times, Ortiz says he is ready to put it all on the line in his return.

“Coming back is hard mentally and physically,” Ortiz said.  ”So even though I won’t be going anywhere — I have five fights left on my contract — it’s kind of do or die for both of us. But I promise I’m going to get in there and entertain. I can’t wait.”

Ortiz and Griffin previously fought each other in 2006, with Ortiz narrowly defeating Griffin via split decision.  It was a fight that many thought Griffin won, and it helped solidify his place among the top fighters in the light heavyweight division.

Ortiz however,  feels it was a decisive victory and this time around Griffin’s future is on the line.

“You figure in losing the title [to Evans] that Forrest has doubt; he had doubt against Silva,” Ortiz said. “This is all or nothing for him.

“Look at that fight again with the volume off and you’ll see I got two takedowns to win the first round,” stated Ortiz. ”I kind of gassed out. I had a torn [knee ligament] and bulging [back] disc, and probably shouldn’t even have fought, so he probably won the second round. But I came back in the third and got that last takedown to get him. It might have been a split-decision, but I thought I won. Look at my face after the fight, and look at his, and you’ll also see my hand was raised afterward.

“A lot of fans hate Forrest now after the Silva fight, but he usually brings it, and I always come to fight. I’m not going anywhere. I’ve been surviving for 12 years. I know how to do this.”

UFC 106 takes place on November 21st from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.

The bout is being billed as the night’s co-main event along with a matchup of Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin.

Koscheck was orginally scheduled to face Mike Pierce at UFC Fight Night 20, but due to the recent withdrawal of Brock Lesnar from his match with Shane Carwin, Koscheck vs. Johnson has been scheduled to bolster the card.

Koscheck (14-4) is coming off a first round TKO of Frank Trigg at UFC 103.  A victory over Johnson could push him back into title contention after recent losses at the hands of Thiago Alves and Paulo Thiago.

Johnson just competed at this past Saturday’s UFC 103 event, knocking out Yoshiyuki Yoshida in 21 seconds.  Johnson’s victory however, was marred by his inability to make weight, which in addition to 20% of his purse, cost him the “Knockout of the Night” bonus.

Johnson is 5-2 in the Octagon with one of his losses coming from an accidental eye poke from Kevin Burns.

UFC 106 takes place on November 21st in Las Vegas, and will be aired live on pay-per-view.
