After a ten year absence from the Octagon, Coleman made his return at UFC 93 losing to Shogun Rua by technical knockout. He came back from the loss to defeat Stephan Bonnar at UFC 100, but after his recent domination at the hands of Randy Couture the 45-year old has been let go by the organization.

Similarly, Trigg made a comeback to the UFC after a four-year layoff and wasn’t able to find success. He was defeated twice by first round TKO, by Josh Koscheck at UFC 103, and then by Matt Serra at UFC 109.

Hague has only competed three times in the UFC, going 1-2 in the process. His loss by majority decision to Chris Tuchscherer at UFC 109 was his second in a row, previously losing to Todd Duffee in seven seconds at UFC 102.

BumpyKnuckle.com has since confirmed that bout agreements are in place, and an official announcement is forthcoming.  It will be the first time ever that two Hall of Famers have met in the Octagon.

Couture headlined this past Saturday’s UFC 105 event, defeating Brandon Vera by unanimous decision.  It was his first fight at light heavyweight since 2006.

Coleman was originally scheduled to face Tito Ortiz at UFC 106 this Saturday.  However, he had to withdraw due to a torn MCL.  After a ten-year absence, Coleman has fought twice in the UFC, losing to Mauricio Rua before defeating Stephan Bonner by unanimous decision at UFC 100.

UFC 109 is tentatively scheduled for February 6th, taking place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

On a post made to his Twitter account, Ortiz announced the matchup.

“So the match has been set!!!!  Forrest vs Ortiz 2 live Nov 21st Las Vegas PPV.  Let the Punishment begin!!!,” Ortiz posted.

Ortiz and Griffin have fought before at UFC 59, with Tito coming out victorious via split decision.  Despite the loss, the fight was considered by many as Griffin’s official emergence as a contender in the light heavyweight division.

As we reported previously, Ortiz was orginally slated to make his return to the Octagon against UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman.  But Coleman was forced out of the fight due to injury.

Griffin’s last appearance was against Anderson Silva at UFC 101, losing by knockout in the first round.

No official word has come from the UFC as of yet.

UFC 106 will take place from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will be broadcast on pay-per-view.

In response, Coleman’s manager Mike DiSabato spoke with Fighters Only in defense of his fighter, and had some choice words for Ortiz.

“Mark Coleman is not a talker, he is a fighter. He is a Hall of Famer who has fought a Who’s Who of great fighters,” DiSabato stated.  “The only thing Coleman is afraid of when it comes to Tito is contracting swine flu from that dirty ass d-bag.  We all know where he lays his head down at night. Tito wants to get personal with a legend? OK, let’s get personal – we can all go to our porn collections and watch what Tito sleeps with night after night,” he added.

DiSabato of course is referencing Ortiz’ girlfriend and ex-pornstar Jenna Jameson. 

Coleman’s camp are hoping to push the fight back to UFC 108 in January, but no decisions have been made yet by UFC officials.

Ortiz and Coleman were originally scheduled to meet at UFC 106 in November, which features a heavyweight championship bout between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin.

In a post to his official Twitter account, Ortiz stated that he’s looking for a new opponent to fight on November 21st.

“Coleman,coleman,coleman to bad he sissies out!!! Who’s next??? I’m kicking someone’s ass on Nov 21st!,” Ortiz posted.

Ortiz and Coleman were scheduled to square off at UFC 106 on November 21st, which would mark Ortiz first fight in over a year.

There has been no official confirmation from the UFC or Mark Coleman’s camp as of press time.

The fight will take place in Las Vegas at UFC 106, and will be Ortiz first fight back in the UFC in over a year.

Ortiz last fought at UFC 84, when he lost a unanimous decision to now Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida.

Ortiz and UFC President Dana White have both stated that they are on friendly terms, and their previous ongoing feud has since been squashed.

Ortiz is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and has an overall MMA record of 15-6-1.
