As reported by TMZ.com, Griffin suffered a shoulder injury which has forced him to bow-out.

Griffin vs. Nogueira was scheduled as the co-main event at UFC 114, which also features Rampage Jackson vs. Rashad Evans.

An official replacement for Griffin has not been announced, however, mmajunkie.com is reporting that Jason Brilz will step up to face Nogueira.

Nogueira made his Octagon debut at UFC 106 in November, stopping Luiz Cane by TKO in the first round.

UFC 114 takes place on Saturday, May 29 live on pay-per-view.

It will be Ortiz’ first fight in over a year and his first since having surgery on his back.  Speaking to the L.A. Times, Ortiz says he is ready to put it all on the line in his return.

“Coming back is hard mentally and physically,” Ortiz said.  ”So even though I won’t be going anywhere — I have five fights left on my contract — it’s kind of do or die for both of us. But I promise I’m going to get in there and entertain. I can’t wait.”

Ortiz and Griffin previously fought each other in 2006, with Ortiz narrowly defeating Griffin via split decision.  It was a fight that many thought Griffin won, and it helped solidify his place among the top fighters in the light heavyweight division.

Ortiz however,  feels it was a decisive victory and this time around Griffin’s future is on the line.

“You figure in losing the title [to Evans] that Forrest has doubt; he had doubt against Silva,” Ortiz said. “This is all or nothing for him.

“Look at that fight again with the volume off and you’ll see I got two takedowns to win the first round,” stated Ortiz. ”I kind of gassed out. I had a torn [knee ligament] and bulging [back] disc, and probably shouldn’t even have fought, so he probably won the second round. But I came back in the third and got that last takedown to get him. It might have been a split-decision, but I thought I won. Look at my face after the fight, and look at his, and you’ll also see my hand was raised afterward.

“A lot of fans hate Forrest now after the Silva fight, but he usually brings it, and I always come to fight. I’m not going anywhere. I’ve been surviving for 12 years. I know how to do this.”

UFC 106 takes place on November 21st from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.

The UFC has not clarified when the Lesnar vs. Carwin fight will take place, but it’s likely that it may happen sometime in January 2010.

Ortiz and Griffin fought previously at UFC 59 in 2006.  In a close split-decision, Ortiz pulled out the win.

On a post made to his Twitter account, Ortiz announced the matchup.

“So the match has been set!!!!  Forrest vs Ortiz 2 live Nov 21st Las Vegas PPV.  Let the Punishment begin!!!,” Ortiz posted.

Ortiz and Griffin have fought before at UFC 59, with Tito coming out victorious via split decision.  Despite the loss, the fight was considered by many as Griffin’s official emergence as a contender in the light heavyweight division.

As we reported previously, Ortiz was orginally slated to make his return to the Octagon against UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman.  But Coleman was forced out of the fight due to injury.

Griffin’s last appearance was against Anderson Silva at UFC 101, losing by knockout in the first round.

No official word has come from the UFC as of yet.
