THQ Introduces New Gameplay Features For UFC Undisputed 2010

THQ and Zuffa, LLC today announced the first gamplay details surrounding the release of the upcoming UFC Undisputed 2010 video game.

Set to hit stores on May 25th, the new game will feature increased fighter customization and career progression, as well as an enhanced online offering. Over 100 UFC fighters will be available, as well as in-ring commentary from Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg, with Bruce Buffer handling the cage introductions.

“UFC Undisputed 2010 will deliver the most advanced and superior virtual MMA action based on the world’s most prominent and respected organization in mixed martial arts, Ultimate Fighting Championship,” said Brian Coleman, Vice President of Global Brand Management, THQ. “Through enriched gameplay and extensive new options, players will understand and appreciate what it takes to be a real UFC fighter.”

Undisputed 2010 will introduce players to three different gameplay modes. Title Mode will allow players to compete in one of the UFC weight divisions to earn and defend the title. In Title Defense Mode, players condition will remain the same, but milestone challenges will be built in along the way. In addition, a Tournament Mode will be introduced where players can set up 16-player individual and team tournaments.

The action in the Octagon has been enhanced as well, as the game will include a Sway System enabling players full upper body and head movement to dodge attacks. As well, on the ground, a Posture System has been implemented which will allow players to deliver fight-ending strikes from any position.

The 2010 release will also give players the ability to fight against the cage, use the Southpaw stance, and utilize new discplines such as Sambo, Karate, and Greco-Roman Wrestling.

In terms of online play, players will have the ability to form fight camps and leagues and and go online to compete against other camps in the virtual UFC world. The online Career Mode has been ramped-up as well to include a new “Game Is Watching You” system that will track every action and use this information to dictate in-game commentary, opponent intelligence and overall career progression.

As we previously reported, UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will be featured on the cover of the 2010 edition.

UFC Undisputed 2010 is set for release on May 25, 2010 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 consoles.
