UFC Officially Announces UFN 21; Florian vs. Gomi Headlines

The UFC today officially announced UFC Fight Night 21, which will feature a headline matchup between lightweights Kenny Florian and the newly-signed Takanori Gomi.

As we previously reported, Florian vs. Gomi has been set since Florian confirmed the bout during ESPN’s MMA Live program.

“UFC fans know Kenny Florian as a top contender who can do it all in the Octagon, and in Takanori Gomi he’s facing a guy who has dominated in Japan for years and is now looking to do the same thing in the UFC,” said UFC president Dana White. “This is going to be a fight to remember.”

Also set for the main card is a heavyweight bout between TUF 10 winner Roy Nelson and Stefan Struve. It will be the first fight for Nelson since he was crowned TUF champion by knocking out Brendan Schaub at the TUF Finale in December.

Struve has reeled-off three consecutive victories in the Octagon since losing to Junior Dos Santos in his UFC debut. He most recently appeared in December at UFC 107, defeating Paul Buentello by majority decision.

UFC Fight Night 21 will take place on March 31 at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. Tickets for the event go on sale Saturday, February 6 at 10am ET.

The event will serve as the lead-in to the new season of The Ultimate Fighter, featuring coaches Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz.
