UFC heavyweight contender Shane Carwin announced today via his official website that he expect to fight again in March at UFC 111 in New Jersey.
Though Carwin only stated that his opponent “has a good stand up game and can be effective on the ground,” numerous sources are reporting that he will be taking on Frank Mir.
Carwin has been out of action since March, after his bout with Brock Lesnar fell-through due to Lesnar’s health issues. Undefeated at 11-0, Carwin is 4-0 in the UFC, finishing all of his opponents in the first round.
Mir made quick work of Cheick Kongo at this past weekend’s UFC 107, finishing Kongo in the first round by guillotine choke. The victory put Mir right back in title contention, as he works towards a third bout with champ Brock Lesnar.
UFC 111 is scheduled to take place on March 27, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

I would prefer Carwin strip Lesnar of his belt then defend it against Mir….however, this will have to do!
