Dan Henderson Remains a Free Agent; Dana White Says Otherwise

Former Pride champion and UFC contender Dan Henderson remains a free agent, despite UFC president Dana White’s recent comments that Hendo has signed with the Strikeforce organization.

As reported by Yahoo! Sports, White stated, “I guarantee you 1,000 percent that Dan Henderson is signed by Strikeforce. Dan and I have been friends and we will continue to be friends, but it just didn’t work out and he went to Strikeforce.”

White has stated on several occasions that the UFC and Henderson have failed to come to terms and the negotiations have ended. However, Sherdog.com today spoke with Henderson’s manager, Aaron Crecy, who denied that Henderson has made the move to Strikeforce.

“Dan hasn’t signed anywhere,” said Crecy. “He’s open to all possibilities. Nothing is imminent.”

Henderson will be on hand at tomorrow’s Strikeforce “Fedor vs. Rogers” event to corner Team Quest fighter Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. Whether he will come away with a contract remains to be seen.

“Everyone who watches MMA knows the kind of fighter Dan Henderson is,” Strikeforce president Scott Coker told Yahoo!. “He’s a tough, aggressive, fun guy to watch. Who wouldn’t want a guy like that? Of course we do, and that’s why we’ve spoken with them.

“Honestly, though, we don’t have a deal with him yet. I’ve been up to my eyeballs working on this fight and I just haven’t had time to deal with that yet.”

Henderson last fought under the UFC banner at UFC 100, knocking out Michael Bisping in the second round.  He won his last three fights for the organization, including wins over Rich Franklin and Rousimar Palhares.
