Lil’ Nog vs. Luiz Cane, Paulo Thiago vs. Jacob Volkman Official for UFC 106

A light heavyweight showdown between Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Luiz Cane has been added to the main card of UFC 106.

The UFC recently announced a main event of Ortiz vs. Griffin 2 (due to the withdrawal of Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin) and added Josh Koscheck vs. Anthony Johnson to further bolster the card.

They have now added Nogueira (twin brother of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira) to the main card, who will be making his UFC debut.

Nogueira is 17-3 in his mixed martial arts career, with the bulk of his bouts coming while fighting in the Pride organization. He has defeated numerous notable fighters including Dan Henderson, Alistair Overeem, Vladimir Matyushenko, and Guy Mezger.

Luiz Cane is currently on a three fight win streak in the UFC, defeating Jason Lambert, Rameau Sokoudjou, and most recently Steve Cantwell at UFC 97.

Also, a welterweight mathchup between Paulo Thiago and Jacob Volkman has been added to the undercard.

Thiago made a splash in the UFC after knocking out Josh Koscheck, as well as a hard fought battle with Jon Fitch at UFC 100, though ultimately losing by unanimous decision. It was Thiago’s first loss as a professional.

Volkman is undefeated at 10-0 since turning pro, and trains at Minnesota Martial Arts Academy alongside UFC vets Brock Lesnar and Sean Sherk.

The full lineup of fights for UFC 106 now includes:
