Junie Browning Arrested, Released From The UFC

Ultimate Fighter Season 8 castmate Junie Browning was arrested Tuesday night and subsequently dropped from the UFC on Wednesday.

The Las Vegas Review Journal reported that Browning was admitted to St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Nevada for ingesting 16 pills of an anti-anxiety drug.

After arriving at the hospital, Browning attempted to leave and became angry, at which time he allegedly assaulted three nurses.  According to a report filed by police, Browning pushed a female nurse, kicked a male nurse, and punched another before being arrested by authorities.

Following up on the story, Yahoo! Sports spoke with UFC president Dana White, who decided to release Browning upon learning of his arrest.

“Obviously, I’m very disappointed,” White said. “I haven’t heard anything regarding Junie where he’s acted up or been bad in a long time. You could tell on the show he had issues. I saw (fighting) as an opportunity for the kid to turn his life around and make something of himself.

“He was given an amazing opportunity, but he has some serious issues that are beyond me and what I can do. I’m there for guys and I realize nobody is perfect and guys are going to get into trouble. When that happens, I want to try to help and do something for them. But he needs more help than I can give him. I did what I could for him.”

Browning gained notoriety for his outlandish antics on The Ultimate Fighter “Team Mir vs. Team Nogueira.”  He made his official Octagon debut at The Ultimate Fighter Finale, defeating fellow castmate Dave Kaplan by submission.

Most recently, Browning fought at UFC Fight Night “Condit vs. Kampmann,” losing to Cole Miller by submission in the first round.

Browning is facing three counts of battery on a health care worker.  He was booked and released Wednesday.
