Former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans and Brazilian striker Thiago Silva have both verbally agreed to co-headline UFC 108 in January.
Evans was originally planned to face Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in December, but due to Rampage’s proposed retirement and movie career, Evans was left without an opponent.
He will now take on Silva, who is coming off a first round knockout victory over Rashad’s training partner and friend Keith Jardine at UFC 102.
Evans last appearance in the Octagon was in May at UFC 98, where he was defeated for the first time in his career, losing his light heavyweight title to current champ Lyoto Machida.
As we previously reported, UFC 108 is expected to feature a middleweight championship bout between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort.
UFC 108 is scheduled for January 2nd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
