UFC president Dana White today announced via video blog on www.bjpenn.com, that lightweight champion BJ Penn will next defend his title on December 12th against Diego Sanchez.
“BJ is fighting December 12th,” White simply stated.
At the UFC 102 post-fight press conference, White had previously confirmed that Penn would face Sanchez. However, no date had been mentioned until today.
Both men are coming off impressive victories.
Penn recently defeated Kenny Florian by submission (rear naked choke) in the fourth round at UFC 101.
Sanchez defeated Clay Guida by split decision at The Ultimate Fighter Season 9 Finale in his second fight in the lightweight division.
